Le novità principali riguardano la scesa in campo delle grandi marche (prima fra tutte la Philips, seguita a breve dalla JVC), la sempre maggior diffusione dei decoder AC3 incorporati e la migliore compatibilità con i vari formati di codifica (per esempio il 3.11).
Infine un accenno ai prezzi... Siamo passati dai €390 ai €150!

Die MAS Elektronik AG bringt ab Mitte August einen DivX-fähigen DVD-Player für 119 Euro auf den Markt, dessen technische Ausstattung seinesgleichen sucht.
1. Der Xoro HSD 400 MPEG4-Player mit neuem ESS-Chipsatz hat einen integrierten Dolby-Digital-Decoder für Original-Heimkinosound. Damit ist er der erste MPEG4-Player, der 5.1-Sound unterstützt.
2. Ebenfalls als erster MPEG4-Player und darüber hinaus eines von wenigen Geräten auf dem Markt überhaupt, wird der Xoro HSD 400 einen VGA-Anschluss besitzen. Darüber kann das Videosignal bequem an einen Monitor oder Projektor ausgegeben werden.
3. Weiterhin spielt der Xoro HSD 400 alle aktuellen DivX-Versionen ab, auch DivX 3.11.
4. Wichtig für Stromsparer: Der Player hat eine True-Standby-Funktion. Im Stand-by-Betrieb wird also tatsächlich kaum Strom verbraucht. Damit verlängert sich natürlich auch die "Lebenszeit" des Gerätes.
5. Der Player spielt neben DivX auch DVD, XviD, Ogg Vorbis, VCD, SVCD, CD, MP3, Kodak Picture-CD, JPEG-CD und andere Formate ab.
6. Zusätzlich ist der Player mit der neuen Xoro-Standard-Fernbedienung ausgerüstet, die in Zukunft allen neuen Xoro-DVD-Playern beiliegt. Der Geber wurde für den DVD-Betrieb optimiert und alle wichtigen Funktionen sind wohlüberlegt angeordnet.
Wer sich für den Xoro HSD 400 entscheidet, bekommt also viel Ausstattung zum sehr günstigen Preis. Denn mit 119 Euro liegt der Player deutlich unter Konkurrenz-Angeboten.

Le nouveau chip de décompression MPEG2 et DivX de chez ESS, le Vibratto semble avoir la cote auprès des grands fabricants. Ainsi, après avoir été adopté par Philips pour sa platine DVD737, c'est JVC qui va l'employer à l'intérieur de sa nouvelle platine de salon DVD / DivX : la XV-NP1SL.
Cette platine au format Slim, proposera un lecteur de carte mémoire en façade compatible : SD, MMC, SmartMedia, Compact Flash et Memory Stick.
La JVC XV-NP1SL proposera aussi une fonction d'accélaration vidéo / audio de 1.5x et la technologie "Express Play Start" qui permet de démarrer la lecture d'un film, 4 secondes chrono après avoir inséré le disque.
Bien entendu, cette platine permettra également de lire les CD-audio, MP3 et WMA.
Aucun prix n'a encore été annoncé mais outre-atlantique elle est proposée au tarif de 169$ US. Toutefois elle ne devrait plus trop tarder à débarquer en Europe.

ESS Technology today announced that JVC has selected ESS's Vibratto(TM) DVD decoder chip to power its newest DVD player, the XV-NP1SL. This latest DVD offering from JVC comes in a sleek, slim chassis and includes slot accesses for the viewing of digital photos using DSC memory cards.The JVC XV-NP1SL DVD player is currently available in the European and North American markets.
The ESS Vibratto product line incorporates the MPEG-2 video decoding technology and digital audio decoding technology to provide the JVC XV-NP1SL DVD player with progressive scan video output for flicker-free display, Dolby® Digital and DTS decoding for high quality audio output, and S/PDIF output for digital audio pass-through. In addition, the Vibratto DVD decoder provides a direct interface for SD, MMC, SmartMedia, Compact Flash, and Memory Stick flash memory cards.
This flash memory interface offers consumers the capability to view photos stored on memory cards, or to play an enhanced Music Slideshow directly on a TV set. The Music Slideshow allows music to play in the background from a CDDA disc or from MP3/WMA files stored in a memory card while a customizable slide show of photos is displayed on the TV screen. The JVC XV-NP1SL DVD player also offers a unique state-of-the-art 1.5x quick video playback with audio and JVC's exclusive Express Play Start feature that displays video images a mere four seconds after a disc is inserted.

Der DVD-365DivX ist das neue Spitzenmodell von Yamakawa mit vielen Funktionen für den professionellen Einsatz. Beim DVD-365DivX bleiben keine Wünsche offen, da neben DVD-Video und Audio-CDs nicht nur die beliebten Formate MP3, VCD und SVCD unterstützt werden, sondern auch die neuen Medien wie DVD-R/RW und DVD+R/RW auf denen sogar über 3000 MP3 Musiktitel gespeichert werden können.

We would just like to bring the following to your attention before you order this unit:
We DO NOT guarantee that all AVI files will play perfectly
Some AVI files will not play on this DVD player even if they are encoded to the MPEG-4 standard
Problems can arise when an audio codec has been used that is not supported
Audio sync problems have been noticed too, mainly when playing content encoded using the divx codec
Video encoded with the divx 3.11 codec can cause temporary freezes during high bitrate scenes
AVI files with corrupt frames can cause lock-ups on your PC and on this DVD player
Software such as DivFix or VirtualDub should be able to help
Using a bit rate that is too low or too high can cause audio / video problems
Encoding methods such as QPEL can prevent the file being played
We are not in the position to assist you with problems such as these
